BA’s latest figures fail to impress
British Airways has revealed that its traffic was down 10.2% in May compared to the same month last year.
Premium traffic fell by 9.1%, while economy traffic was down by 10.4%. An early Easter had been blamed for last month’s poor performance – when traffic fell by a total 10.8%. Previously it had looked like passenger numbers were on a steady upward course – in March traffic was down just 3.2% on the same period a year before.
BA said that “market conditions remain unchanged”, but added that shorthaul traffic volumes and increases in traveller numbers to the Asia Pacific region “offer some encouragement.”
