Berlin court rules in favour of Ryanair in eDreams case
Ryanair says it won another case against an OTA overcharging customers for flight bookings.
It comes a week after a US Court ruled in favour of Ryanair in a similar action against Booking.com.
In that case Booking.com was in breach of the US Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
It says the Berlin Court ruled eDreams’ payment service fee of €3.88 per booking was excessive.
The eDreams Flexfare option was misleading, Ryanair said.
Flexfare allows customers to change the date and time of flights for free, however the airline’s change fees still applied.
Ryanair also argued eDreams Prime claims of discounts on ‘100% of flights’ was misleading.
The airline says eDreams is the last major OTA in Europe which is still scraping Ryanair’s website, and overcharging consumers.
In recent months the airline has secured several approved OTA agreements with a number of major travel platforms to display the real cost of flights.
Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer Dara Brady said: “We call on eDreams to cease this anti-consumer overcharging.”
