Best Western dumps Kuta Condotel connection
BANGKOK – Best Western International has announced that the New Kuta Condotel will no longer carry the Best Western branding, with immediate effect.
All association between the hotel and Best Western has been terminated.
“It is with regret Best Western International has ended its association with New Kuta Condotel. Best Western, meanwhile, is continuing with its expansion plans in Indonesia,†said Best Western International Indonesia’s business development consultant in charge of operations, Winston Hanes.
Best Western gave no reason for the decision to sever all connections with the Kuta property which has been  receiving unfavourable publicity in the Bali media. The property’s owners have been accused of building the hotel in violation of zoning laws, and placing the hotel in an area reserved for residential purposes.
The hotel has been in operation in various forms since 1970 when it first opened with just seven rooms. It later expanded to 57 rooms before its latest expansion to become a 110-room property.
Best Western operates the Best Western Premier Solo and Best Western Resort Kuta, and is planning to open the Best Western Mangga Dua Hotel and Residence later this year.
