Bmi regional unveils expansion plans
Bmi regional will start flying under a new ‘BM’ IATA designator to an expanded network at the end of next month and has plans for further expansion in 2013.
The airline, now privately owned by Sector Aviation Holdings Ltd, (SAH), will add twice daily services between Aberdeen and Bristol and Manchester and Antwerp from October 29.
The new services will bring the bmi regional network to 11 European and four domestic routes.
SAH bought the airline from Lufthansa earlier this year, including the future rights to the bmi brand.
The new owners have almost completed a five-month transition, replacing all the IT systems and creating new commercial and financial structures.
"Free from the ties of big carrier ownership and practices we are emerging as a flexible, streamlined, nimble and forward-thinking regional airline with the ability to act quickly to launch new route opportunities and explore new business opportunities in the sector," said SAH executive chairman Ian Woodley.
The airline said it is also keen to explore the opportunity to place more of bmi regional’s Embraer 135 and 145 capacity into the ACMI, corporate and ad-hoc charter markets.
