Boeing slammed for dragging feet in NTSB investigation

Boeing slammed for dragging feet in NTSB investigation

Boeing was heavily criticized by the head of the National Transportation Safety Board for obstructing the work of investigators probing the Boeing 737 Max door-plug blowout incident.

NTSB chair Jennifer Homendy told a Senate committee hearing Boeing has failed to hand over documents or provided names of staff involved in the production of the door.

“Boeing has not provided us with the documents and information that we have requested numerous times over the past few months,” Homendy said.

“It is specifically with respect to opening, closing and removal of the door, and the team that does that work at the Renton facility.”

The NTSB asked Boeing for the names of the 25 employees and one manager who worked with the doors and door plugs but Boeing has failed to share the information.

“It’s absurd that two months later, we don’t have that.”

The NTSB has ‘repeatedly requested’ documents about the door plug.’

Following the hearing, Boeing issued a statement, saying it has now shared all relevant documentation.

“We have now provided the full list of individuals on the Boeing 737 Max door team, in response to a recent request,” Boeing said.

It says it has ‘worked proactively and transparently to fully support the NTSB’s investigation.’
