Border to re-open following diplomatic thaw
Thailand: Border with Cambodia will open at the weekend
Thailand has stated that it will open its border with Cambodia at the weekend, more than a week after it was firmly closed following rioting the Phnom Penh. As reported by News From Abroad, massive rioting broke out after alleged “anti-Cambodian comments” by one of Thailand’s leading actresses. Thailand suspended all diplomatic activity with its neighbour and immediately closed the border, but following a two-day visit to Bangkok by Cambodian diplomats, relationships appear to have thawed somewhat. Flights between the two countries are expected to resume within days, and overland travel across the border will once more be possible.
