Brighton rocks in Superbreak top 10 list
The coastal city of Brighton was a star performer for Superbreak in 2010 after a 23% growth in sales year on year.
In the operator’s latest list of hotspots, Brighton rose from ninth to seventh place, just behind Bournemouth.
The top six destinatins retained their positions, with London once again taking the number one spot.
Superbreak sales director Ian Mounser said London is likely to remain a favourite this year, thanks to new big show openings including the Wizard of Oz, Shrek The Musical and Ghost The Musical.
"It is possible that fewer shopping orientated breaks to the cities will be taken and we will therefore work with agents to ensure they are promoting the other reasons to visit them," he added.
He believes the higher price of petrol will also mean more Brits holidaying closer to home, usually within two hours’ driving time.
The top 10 list for 2010 was:
London
Edinburgh
York
Lake District
Blackpool
Bournemouth
Brighton
Chester
Manchester
Stratford-upon-Avon
