Brisbane Marketing’s new itineraries for travel trade
BRISBANE – Brisbane Marketing has unveiled a range of recommended Brisbane itineraries aimed at educating the tourism industry of the breadth of products available across the city and the greater Brisbane region.
More than 12 themed itineraries are now available to domestic and international wholesalers, Aussie Specialists agents and local travel trade which showcase a range of ideas on where to stay, shop, eat, play and relax in Brisbane, Ipswich, Scenic Rim, Country Valleys and Moreton Bay & Islands.
Brisbane marketing director of leisure tourism, Cathie McBean, said the sample itineraries would strengthen Brisbane’s position as Australia’s new world city and empower the travel trade and consumers to make more informed choices.
“People often have an outdated perception that Brisbane is a sleepy little town but the local landscape, attractions and range of tourism products is exceptional and these itineraries are an excellent starting point to unearth the best Brisbane has to offer,†Ms McBean said.
“More than 5.5 million domestic and international visitors travelled to Brisbane in the year ending June 2009, so as well as encouraging these visitors to return to the city and discover new aspects of the region, they will help to educate the industry of the diverse leisure experiences available.
“They are also useful customer service tools that can empower consumers to make more informed choices and hopefully extend their stay in the city,†she said.
The itineraries range from a day tour of Moreton Bay, the eco-marine park on Brisbane’s foreshore; a listing of Brisbane River cruise operators; the city sights and key attractions; a Scenic Rim wine tour; bushwalking and soft-adventure leisure activities plus a detailed ‘Great Sunshine Way’ itinerary that combines product in the SE Queensland region.
New tourism products specific to each region include the City to Straddie Day Tour by Kingfisher Bay Tours, the Brisbane-Five-In-One card; day tours to Tangalooma Island Resort and educational tours with Redlands IndigiScapes Centre.
