Brit killed in horrific helicopter accident
Family and friends of British tourist Jack Fenton, 22 defended his actions after his horrific death in Greece.
He was struck by a helicopter rotor blade at a helipad in Spata, Athens.
He had arrived by helicopter from Mykonos with friends.
Greek investigators said he returned to in front of the chopper, presumably to take a selfie.
They said he ignored warnings not to do so by the crew.
Friend Jack Stanton-Gleaves said this is untrue.
“We disembarked on our own and no one stopped Jack from going to the rear of the helicopter,” he said.
“I’ve heard people say Jack was on his phone and ran back to the helicopter. He was not on his phone and why he turned towards the rear of the helicopter I don’t know.”
There are claims Fenton moved towards the helicopter even though people around him shouted for him to stop.
The helicopter pilot and two ground staff were detained for questioning.
“We are supporting the family and are in contact with the local authorities,” the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said.
