British Diamond Princess passenger dies
A British man who contracted the coronavirus while on board Diamond Princess has died in Japan.
He was one of four Brits who had to stay in Japan after other British passengers were flown home last week.
But the deceased is not David Abel, from Northamptonshire, who has been widely featured in media coverage due to his frequent posts on Facebook and Youtube.
A humorous video posted by David on Youtube on Wednesday showed him in his hospital gown dancing to the song ‘I’ve had the time of my life’ from the movie Dirty Dancing.
Since the news broke today, friends and followers on his Facebook page have expressed their fears that he was the victim.
Six people have now died after being infected on the Princess ship which was quarantined off the coast of Japan.
A total of 705 passengers and crew onboard the Diamond Princess were confirmed as having COVID-19.
Princess Cruises expressed its ‘sincere condolences’.
