A man thought to be a British national has been shot dead in a Costa del Sol street.

Police are searching for the shooter, who made a getaway in a car which was found burnt out some time later.

The incident happened on Monday evening near a sports facility called Club del Sol in Calahonda, near Marbella.

The victim, thought to be from Liverpool in his 30s had already passed away when police and medical crews arrived.

Locals in the area heard at least eight shots being fired.

It has been described as a gunfight.

Firearms were found in the burnt-out car, while police haven’t ruled out more than one suspect.

Just days ago, another man was shot outside a Marbella nightclub and was taken to hospital for a wound to his shoulder.

A suspect also fled the scene in a car.

There has been no word on whether the two shootings are related.
