British woman dies in Hurghada banana boat accident
A British woman travelling with Thomas Cook has died in a banana boat accident in Egypt.
Janice Bowles, 58, from Bristol, was on a family holiday in Hurghada when the accident happened on August 28.
According to reports, she died after being flipped from the boat and becoming trapped underneath.
Relatives have set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise £1,000 to pay for her funeral. So far, it has reached £465.
Thomas Cook has stopped selling the boat excursion following the accident and the Foreign Office said it is assisting her family.
Thomas Cook said: "We can confirm that one of our customers sadly died last week while on an excursion in Egypt.
"We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family, and our welfare team continue to do all they can to support them at this time.
"We are urgently investigating what happened."
The accident occured in the same resort where investigations are taking place into the deaths of travel agent Susan Cooper and her husband John two weeks ago.
