Business Travel International has entered Botswana with the country’s largest travel management company Travelwise joining as BTI Travelwise.

BTI said the development reflects a substantial increase in the number of multinational companies looking to consolidate their business in Africa.

The addition of Travelwise gives BTI a presence in Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

Gaborone-based Travelwise has been operating for 14 years with clients including the US Embassy, the Debswana Diamond Company and the Botswana Sport Council.

BTI Travelwise managing director Fred McDonald said: “Corporate travel continues to develop in Botswana and we are delighted to be joining such a respected TMC at this time. It allows us to further develop our offering and gives our national clients access to BTI’s extensive global experience, resources and technology capabilities ensuring that we remain at the forefront of corporate travel in the country.”
