Buenos Aires in Spain to promote tourism
Buenos Aires tourism officials were recently in Spain presenting the latest tourism statistics and trends of the Argentine capital.
Visit Buenos Aires took part in Madrid’s Hispanic Week recently, led by Valentín Díaz Gilligan, President of the Buenos Aires Tourism Board and Visit Buenos Aires.
He was joined by the city’s Deputy Mayor, Clara Muzzio, and the Minister of Economic Development, Hernán Lombardi.
Representatives from Buenos Aires’ business sector also attended, including members of the city’s Hotel, Restaurant, Confectionery and Café Association (AHRCC), the Buenos Aires branch of the Argentine Hotel Association (AHT), and the City Travel Agencies Association (AVIABUE).
The event combined valuable market insights with the latest tourism developments for the upcoming season.
The city’s presentation included a tango performance, and provided opportunities for direct interaction with tourism representatives.
“Being in Madrid is a great opportunity to reaffirm Spain’s importance for Buenos Aires. We are excited to continue building this strong relationship and to welcome more Spanish travellers,” said Díaz Gilligan.
Between January and August 2025, 77,000 Spanish tourists visited Buenos Aires, a 3% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Spain accounts for 30% of all European tourists visiting Buenos Aires, with Italy second at 16%.
In 2024, Buenos Aires welcomed 112,000 Spanish tourists.
Between January and August 2025, there were more than 3,000 flights connecting Buenos Aires and Spain, which is up 13% on the same period in 2024. Seat availability reached around 963,000, with an average occupancy rate of 92%.
The Visit Buenos Aires presentation highlighted the city’s unique value proposition as the cultural capital of Latin America, offering:
World-class gastronomy, featuring award-winning restaurants and a growing wine scene.
A vibrant cultural and nightlife scene, with theatres, tango shows, and a dynamic cultural calendar filled with music festivals and art exhibitions.
Diverse neighborhoods and authentic experiences, allowing visitors to explore both its historic heritage and contemporary lifestyle.
Attractive for both leisure travelers and the MICE segment.
