Bumper quarter for Star Cruises
Star Cruises increased its net income by 42% to $56.2 million in the third quarter of 2002, compared with the same period last year.
Revenue for the quarter, which ended on September 30, increased by 17.8% to $447.4 million.
The Asia-based company said the improvement was due to an increase in capacity and higher occupancy levels.
Meanwhile, its subsidiaries had mixed fortunes. Norwegian Cruise Line’s net yields were up by just under 2% while Orient Lines’ yields were down significantly.
NCL’s performance was attributed in part to the popularity of its Freestyle dining plan.
