Bumpy summer for on-time arrival of US air travelers
A “rough summer” could be ahead for US travelers because of flight delays, says the nation’s aviation chief (FAA).
Air travel had a “good spring,” said FAA Administrator Marion Blakey. But delays shot up in July by 31%.
The delays are being blamed mostly on the huge upsurge of people boarding airplanes.
The number of flights this month is up about 2.5% from last year. But passenger numbers are climbing faster than that, said FAA officials.
