Businessman barred from airline after he refused to fly with deportee
A businessman has been barred from Qantas after he chose not to fly on a plane that was allegedly carrying an asylum seeker being deported from Australia.
Paul Leary told the Daily Mail that he and a colleague asked to disembark from the flight when they discovered an asylum seeker was onboard and they continued their journey from Melbourne to Darwin with another airline.
However, when he tried to return to Melbourne on a Qantas flight, Leary was told he was subject to a security investigation and a No Fly Notification.
He later received a formal letter from Qantas informing him that he was banned from travelling with the airline until the investigation has been completed.
