Butlin’s guest dies after bar brawl
A man has died after allegedly being punched in the face during a bar brawl at a Butlin’s holiday resort.
Several people are believed to have been involved in the fight at the holiday park in Bognor Regis on Friday evening.
A 52-year-old from Bedford was admitted to Royal Sussex County Hospital, but he died on Tuesday afternoon.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Wolstenholme told Sky News: “We extend our sympathies to his family and friends at this difficult time, and are providing support with specialist officers.
“The bar was very busy at the time of the assault and we believe many of those present would have witnessed the assault and the aftermath.
“We have spoken to some witnesses who were present at the time, but we would be keen to speak to anyone who hasn’t yet made contact with us.”
A 31-year-old man from Wandsworth in southwest London has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He was bailed until July 13.
A Butlin’s spokesman said: "We are very saddened to hear this terrible news and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends.
"We have offered our full assistance to the Police in their enquiries throughout the investigation and will continue to do so."
