Bye, bye bmibaby
Bmibaby flew its last flight from East Midlands Airport on September 10.
The low-cost, short haul carrier was shuttered by British Airways’ parent company, International Airlines Group (IAG), after a takeover of British Midland Airways Limited (bmi) from Lufthansa.
IAG could not find a buyer for the airline after the takeover. The corporation had stated that they would close the regional carrier if no buyer could be found.
Some of bmibaby’s routes have been picked up by competing airlines like Monarch, Flybe and Jet2.com.
Passengers were offered the option of refund or rebooking on other airlines earlier in the year when annoucements were made about the airline closure.
The airline’s website announced: "Been nice knowing you, baby!"
