Cabineering comes to Yellowstone

Tuesday, 20 May, 2013 0

West Yellowstone this summer is offering a 50-cabin property that combines a community feel, adventure travel, and hotel amenities.

Opening on July 1, Explorer Cabins at Yellowstone offers 50 cabins perfect for groups, generational travel (parents and kids and grandparents), and even pets.

Located just minutes from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park and a short drive from the Old Faithful Geyser, the cabins are clustered in five distinct camp settings to encourage a sense of community for friends or families traveling together.

The five camps are named after early pioneers and explorers of Yellowstone National Park, Washburn, Colter, Bridger, Russell, and Langford. The Washburn Camp includes dog-friendly cabins.

The Explorer Cabins are the first newly built lodging option in West Yellowstone since the Yellowstone Park Hotel in 2007.

There are three types of cabins. The 10 Montana Cabins accommodate up to four people each, with one large room with two queen-size beds. An interior doorway can connect two adjoining cabins.

The 10 Old Faithful Cabins accommodate up to four people each, with one king size bed in a private bedroom, as well as a living room area with a sleeper sofa. Two are ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant.

Twenty of the Yellowstone Cabins accommodate up to six people each; they have two private bedrooms, with a king-size bed in the master and a queen bed in the second. The other 10 cabins have a twin-over-twin bunk bed in the second bedroom.

Every cabin has a fireplace, a front porch with a sitting area, private bathrooms, and a kitchenette.

There’s free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen HDTV, premium cable, wireless telephone, and an alarm clock/MP3 player. On the walls is artwork created by local artists.

The Bridger Cookhouse is open for dinner daily, with beef, bison, salmon, turkey, or veggie burgers and sides. There are also five gas-lit fire pits, two hot tubs.

Guests in the Explorer Cabins also can use the pool, hot tub, fitness center, and laundry facilities at the nearby Yellowstone Park Hotel.

Rates range from about $280-$475 a night during peak season.
