Capella Hotel Group is expanding its Asian footprint with a new luxury tented retreat in Bali’s artistic hub of Ubud.

Capella has agreed a partnership with PT Awahita Indonesia for the unique retreat under canvas which will feature 22 luxury tents.

It is expected to open in the autumn of 2017.

Located by the sacred Wos River, the luxury tented accommodation is being designed by renowned architect Bill Bensley, and each will feature an individual plunge pool.

Retreat amenities planned include the Capella Library, a gym under canvas, the Robatayaki grill, and the award-winning Auriga Spa and wellness retreat.

"Capella Ubud gives our discerning guests the chance to relive the spirit of adventure while enjoying the natural essence of Bali in luxurious comfort," said Nicholas M. Clayton, chief executive officer of Capella Hotel Group Asia.

Aside from Ubud, Capella is on track to open projects in Shanghai and Bangkok within the next 18 months, Clayton said.

"With Bill Bensley’s creative talents and Capella Hotel Group Asia’s expertise, we are confident that Capella Ubud will capture the imagination of everyone in search of a true cultural immersion," Suwito Gunawan, president director of PT Awahito Indonesia.
