Car rental specialist goes multi-lingual

Car rental distribution specialist CarTrawler has expanded its language capability to allow its booking engine to be used in 26 languages.

The company, which had originally developed the technology for the main European languages including French and German, can now provide a local language version for each country.

CarTrawler was driven to expand the capability following its tie-up with VisitBritain earlier this year and plans to add more languages as new markets emerge. The company estimates that conversions increase by 75% when sites feature the local language.

The company is also speaking to a number of tourist boards and airlines about using its car rental technology and will reveal partners in the coming weeks.

Chief executive Greg Turley said a North American deal is also in the pipeline which will see the car-rental platform delivered to more than 20,000 travel agents.
