Caribbean tourism: singing a happy tune

Trinidad & Tobago, as well as Jamaica, are all experiencing increases in tourist visitors.

Trinidad & Tobago saw a 10.7% increase in tourist activity from January to May of this year compared to the same period last year.

“The largest number of visitors originated from the US,” said Warren Solomon, vice president, Tourism.

Some of Jamaica’s strongest increases in tourism have come not only from the US, but also from Europe and the UK, said Paul Pennicook, Jamaica’s director of tourism.

He said the agency is targeting the UK in a new print advertising campaign with the tagline “Once you go, you know.”
