Carlson Wagonlit appoints business development director

Jennifer Charlton has been appointed director of business development UK for Carlson Wagonlit Travel as part of a new senior management team.

She was previously global director of sales for Thistle Hotels and before that was head of trade sales UK with KLM.

CWT executive vice president UK Andrew Waller said Charlton would focus on driving forward business, specifically in hotels and the meeting, incentive, conference and event market, and will take overall responsibility for industry supplier relations.

“Following last week’s announcement of CWT’s proposed acquisition of Navigant International, Jennifer’s appointment represents another critical step in our strategy to significantly increase market share across strategic areas of our UK business,” he said.

“Specifically, we intend to fully exploit the potential of the hotels and MICE sectors. I’m delighted that Jennifer has accepted the challenge. She will bring a wealth of valuable industry experience encompassing both airlines and hotels.”

The move comes after the recent appointment of Ed Creswell as director of sales, who joins in July, and now leaves only one position to fill within the revised UK senior management team.
