Carnival Cruise Line renews cruise contract with Jacksonville
Carnival Cruise Line has agreed an extension to continue sailing from Jacksonville until at least 2021, and potentially through 2027.
The line sealed a deal with Jaxport’s North Jacksonville Cruise Terminal to continue offering year-round Bahamas itineraries for the next three years, currently served by Carnival Elation.
The agreement also comes with three more two-year renewal options.
The cruise line’s current contract with Jaxport expired on May 1.
The renewal is tied to planned enhancements to the terminal building to improve the passenger experience.
"With Carnival Elation sailing year-round from Jacksonville, we’ve seen great demand from the area," said Christine Duffy, Carnival Cruise Line president.
From May 2019, the upgraded 2,056-passenger Carnival Ecstasy will replace the Elation and continue year-round cruises from Jaxport and is expected to carry about 170,000 passengers a year.
