Carrick to head Hoseasons
Richard Carrick, the former MyTravel executive, has been named as new head of the Hoseasons Holiday Group.
Mr Carrick takes over from managing director, Ken Gaylard, who will retire when the Hoseasons secondary management buyout is completed. Mr Gaylard will remain a shareholder.
Hoseasons Holidays Group was sold by ECI Partners in June to the Hoseasons management team financed by UK venture capitalists, HgCapital.
Mr Carrick was formerly chief executive of MyTravel Global Development, and was made redundant in December 2002 shortly after the company announced losses of £73.8 million for the year.
In a statement, Hoseasons said Mr Carrick has “forthright views on marketing driven and customer led management”. Before MyTravel, Mr Carrick had senior roles at Forte Hotels & Restaurants, Saga Holidays, ILG and Intasun.
Mr Carrick said of his appointment: “I see the UK tourism market, particularly the self-catering sector, as one offering enormous growth potential. Many people take several short breaks in the UK during the course of the year and there is tremendous scope for us to extend this, both in terms of the number of holidays and the number of nights.”
Mr Gaylard said: “We believed it was important that my successor was someone who understands the industry, is respected by his peers and has a proven track record.”
Mr Carrick joins a board consisting of the travel trade director Yvonne Borg, marketing director Tim Fullam, financial director Paul Temple, and chairman Ron Haylock. Jeremy Sharman and Richard Mathews from HgCapital have also joined the board.
