Catch the Calgary Stampede

Insight Vacations is reminding agents to act quickly to secure the last places available on this year’s Calgary Stampede special departures.

The Calgary Stampede has a grand history, dating back to 1912 when Guy Weadick, a famous working cowboy and vaudeville entertainer in the travelling wild-west shows, decided he wanted to devise the greatest show on earth.

Today the great Calgary Stampede has grown from a wild-west side show to Canada’s largest annual event and is billed as being the largest outdoor show on earth.

Highlights include country favourites like chuck wagon racing, rodeo, live country music, horse racing, street parades and the stampede’s own casino. Plus it’s a chance to see one of Canada’s most recognised icons, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police perform their famous Musical Ride, where a troop of 32 horses and riders perform a variety of cavalry drills choreographed to music.

The Calgary Stampede takes place July 6-15, 2007. Insight Vacations’ offers the chance to visit the stampede aboard either the June 30 Canadian Rockies and Vancouver Island or the June 30 Trans-Canada Odyssey. Both departures include two nights in Calgary staying at the Calgary Marriott and include a visit to the chuck-wagon racing, rodeo, fairgrounds and much more.
