A Las Vegas hotel has come under criticism after its concave design deflected “death ray” shafts of sunlight onto poolside guests, burning their skin.
According to the Daily Mail, guests received severe burns after the sun hit the Vdara Hotel’s unusual design and bounced down onto their skin. Plastic bags in the area were also seen to melt under the heat.
A spokesman for MGM Resorts, which owns the hotel, said the matter was in hand and that the company were working on a solution.
The story was originally carried by the Las Vegas Review which reported that the “death rays” could actually intensify the sun’s heat by 20 degrees.
