Cathay parent in hotel swoop
HONG KONG – Cathay Pacific parent Swire is believed to be planning a chain of boutique hotels in Europe and Asia.
Swire Properties has one boutique hotel under construction in Guangzhou and is understood to be exploring sites elsewhere in Asia and throughout Europe.
The company, which has interests in aviation, beverages and shipping, is reported to be looking at boutique hotel properties across Europe and is actively looking at prospective deals, according to insiders.
Swire Properties, the group’s real estate arm, is understood to be keen to establish a portfolio of as many as 100 hotels over the next few years.
It is also understood that the hotels acquired by Swire will operate under their existing names rather than being rebranded to reflect their parent company’s identity.
