Celebrity names second Edge-class ship
Celebrity Cruises has announced the name of its second Edge-class cruise ship – Celebrity Apex.
The name was revealed as it underwent official steel cutting in France.
The ship is expected to begin sailing in spring 2020, while two more Edge-class ships will roll out during the following two years.
"Welcoming Celebrity Apex into our family with the leadership team was a very special moment, especially when we all signed the ship silhouette cut from the first piece of steel," said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises.
"The success and momentum for Celebrity Edge has been incredible, and with Celebrity Apex we will yet again show how we are taking our brand to the next level."
Celebrity Edge will begin cruising in December this year..
The line has already revealed a number of new innovations including the so-called Magic Carpet, which runs along the outside of the ship.
It can serve as a restaurant, bar or tender station during port calls.
