Center Parcs number five on the way
Center Parcs is planning to open its fifth UK camp within the next four years after the company agreed to lease part of the Duke of Bedford’s massive estate near the town of Woburn.
The Times reports that the company has already started negotiations with planners at Mid-Bedfordshire District Council and that the planning process could take 18 months.
The newspaper reports that the new development will cost in the region of £160 million and that there has already been a “significant degree of support” from UK financiers.
The company says it surveyed some 40 sites before choosing the 365-acre site at Warren Wood, near the existing attraction of Woburn Abbey and Safari Park.
The Guardian quotes the Duke of Bedford as saying: “The development will boost the local economy and raise the profile of Bedfordshire, complementing existing activities at Woburn.”
