‘Cheap’ coming to America

Tuesday, 07 Apr, 2005 0

British-based CheapAccommodations is coming to the US market. Said President Karen Plumb:

“CheapFlight was our model, and since they’ve been so successful in the US, we’re moving more into that market.”

CheapFlights lists not only inexpensive hotels, but “gives a choice of everything from five-star lodges to hostels,” she said.

No site can list all choices, she admitted. But she added that CheapAccommodations offers a diverse group of 35,000 deals on a global scale.

In the UK market, it’s harder to identify sites because 70% of the market is composed of independent hotels.

“In America, it’s quite different. Almost 70% of the hotel market involves the chains, while 30% of the market is independent,” she said.

The site, she added, represents small and large players equally.
