China Southern boosts NZ airlift to double daily year-round
China Southern Airlines will operate double-daily flights from Guangzhou to Auckland starting in Aug.
The new schedule follows a successful summer peak season operating twice daily on the route.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated flights will see an increase in return flight frequency from 10 per week to 14 per week.
"We have great confidence in the Auckland-Guangzhou route due to the high level of tourism demand between China and New Zealand," said China Southern Airlines General Manager New Zealand Mike Ma.
Auckland Airport official Norris Carter said the added capacity will add 95,000 seats on the route and is expected to generate 97 million NZ dollars.
China Southern inaugurated the route in 2011 initially with three flights a week and expanded it last year to twice daily during peak season.
