CMV acquires Pacific Eden from P&O Cruises
CMV Travel & Leisure Group has bought the Pacific Eden cruise ship from P&O Cruises Australia.
Pacific Eden’s new name will be announced on March 20 and the vessel will join CMV’s fleet in Singapore in early April 2019.
During a ‘short’ period in dock, the livery will be changed and the ship re-branded before she makes her inaugural voyage to Northern Europe.
Members of the travel trade and the Columbus Club are being invited to vote for the ship’s new name from a shortlist of four explorers: Vasco da Gama, Pytheas, Henry Hudson and Amerigo Vespucci.
During the northern summer the ship will operate under CMV’s German brand, TransOcean Kreuzfahrten, homeporting from both Bremerhaven and Kiel, and during the Australian summer season from Fremantle (Perth) and Adelaide offering a more traditional scenic cruise experience.
CMV’s UK, North American and other global markets will also be marketing the voyages between Europe and the Antipodes and the wider Australian season.
The ship was originally launched in 1994 by Holland America Line as the Statendam.
