Consumer hotel reviews planned for youtravel site

Tuesday, 18 Feb, 2008 0

Youtravel.com has completed the first phase of a revamp of its website, the day rival Hotels4U.com was bought by Thomas Cook.

The changes went live yesterday and include a redesigned homepage with more photographs, and new designated sections focussing on family holidays, all-inclusive properties and luxury hotels.

Hotel reviews from the public will be added together with the functionality for agents and consumers to talk to sales staff via instant messenger.

Sales and marketing director Paul Riches said: “This new look and feel will encourage more people to stay longer on the site and ultimately increase revenue and sales.

“Direct sales account for less than 5% of our overall UK business and we anticipate that as we grow our business in 2008 this percentage share will be retained.

“This redesign is a natural move for a company that has just celebrated its first birthday. We’ve now got a year’s trading experience under our belt, we’ve listened to what our partners in the trade have said about the site as well as comments from consumers.

“Making sure that your website is continuously evolving to reflect these needs is crucial for any successful business.”
