Copa Airlines hopeful of daily Tampa-Panama flights
Copa Airlines CEO Pedro Heilbron says the upcoming holiday season will serve as a test run for daily year round flights between Tampa and Latin America.
Copa will start daily flights from Tampa to Panama City from November and Heilbron said he hopes to make daily flights a permanent fixture from next year.
"That is the first step to see how it goes with dailies and we hope that in the not-too-distant future we will be able to make it daily year-round," he said.
"People travel less when there are no easy flights, and you go more often when it is easier."
The daily schedule will run from November 17 to January 2, 2015 initially.
The airline didn’t give details of passenger numbers carried from Tampa so far but Heilbron said it had surpassed expectations.
"We are very happy with the route," he said.
