Cruise Council Appoints New General Manager
The International Cruise Council Australasia has appointed Linda Halliday as its new General Manager.
Announcing the move, Council Chairman Steve Odell said Ms Halliday had a strong background in travel, most recently holding the position of General Manager – Groups at Scenic Tours.
She has also worked with Sydney-based GSA, Travel the World, and spent 18 years with leading touring company Australian Pacific Tours, including six years as the company’s General Manager – International Product Division.
Mr Odell said the organisation was very pleased to have found someone of Ms Halliday’s calibre to take the place of outgoing General Manager Karen Christensen.
“Linda comes to us with a great knowledge of the travel industry and cruising sector as well as experience in management, sales and training, so she is well equipped to take over the day-to-day running of the Cruise Council,” Mr Odell said.
“The Cruise Council’s role has grown greatly since its inception 10 years ago and we look forward to expanding even further with Linda as General Manager.”
Commenting on her appointment, Ms Halliday said was excited by the opportunity to work in the cruise sector given its dynamic growth.
“I’m particularly looking forward to working with the trade given the vital role travel agents play in promoting the cruise industry,” Ms Halliday said.
Mr Odell said Ms Halliday would join the Cruise Council on May 15.
