Cruise line cancels sailing following ship fire
Oceania Cruises has confirmed the cancellation of Insignia’s next cruise, which was scheduled to set sail from Miami tomorrow.
The cruise line said another crew member who was taken to hospital for treatment has been discharged.
All the ship’s passengers have returned to Miami after Oceania chartered an aircraft at the weekend.
The cause of the fire and damage is still being investigated by US National Transportation Safety Board the US Coast Guard, and officials from the Marshall Islands where the ship is registered.
"We need additional time to conduct a full analysis, and therefore, are cancelling Insignia’s next voyage scheduled for Dec. 17," said Oceania spokesman Michael Hicks.
"We will share additional details as they become known."
