Cruise lines implement fuel surcharges
Cruise lines have recently started insulating themselves from the financial fallout of the Middle East conflict.
Asia based StarCruises and Dream Cruises, both sister brands of parent Resorts World Cruises, have implemented new fuel surcharges.
The fees went live a week ago for new bookings.
“Due to recent geopolitical developments in the Middle East, oil prices have increased significantly, leading to higher fuel and related costs,” the two cruise lines said.
“A fuel surcharge will be introduced for new bookings made on or after 20 March 2026.”
The two lines have imposed different fees.
Dream Cruises will charge around $11 per person on all cruise departures.
It offers sailings out of Singapore and Malaysia.
StarCruises is imposing about $25 per guest per day aboard Star Voyager which is now homeporting in Hong Kong.
A second ship Star Navigator will charge about $19 per guest, per night.
Navigator is now based in Taiwan.
The cruise lines’ surcharges are under constant review, they say, and will be adjusted accordingly as the situation changes.
