Cruising families
The fastest growing segment of the cruise industry: Families. Julia Ryan, vice president of TravelersAdvantagecom, told TravelMole:
“More than a million children cruised in 2002, twice as many as did in 1998. Family cruising has become so popular that even luxury lines are offering programs for younger travelers and their families, something unheard of a generation ago.”
Promotions are increasingly ‘Kids cruise free’ offers, she said.
Cruises have many advantages as vacations, she added. One price covers everything, for example. Cruises also appeal to families because of their wide range of activities for all ages.
By adding youth counselors, cruise lines have also broadened their appeal.
