Ctrip launching big data platform for hotels
Chinese online travel giant is debuting a new platform offering big data analysis for the hotel industry.
Called Beijing JointWisdom Information Technology Co Ltd, a new entity has been established by the merger of two Ctrip affiliates Brand Wisdom and CHSIS.
It will become the first hotel data platform for the domestic market In China.
JointWisdom will provide software development services, data channels and hospitality market intelligence, said Lin Xiaojun, chief executive officer of the new company.
JointWisdom will launch property management systems for hotels and already has a network of more than 50,000 hotel clients through CHSIS.
“Our PMS clients will exceed 70,000 by the end of this year,” said Lin.
“Data is very important for hotels to understand consumer preferences and upgrade services,” Lin said.
Lin said raw data has been collected in the past, but has never really exploited by travel companies due to lack of resources and know-how.
He also said JointWisdom will also work with other online travel agencies, but Ctrip will continue to have a controlling share in the business.
