Cyprus beaches awarded Blue Flag
Cyprus has been awarded a record number of ‘Blue Flag’ beaches in recognition of the quality and safety of its beaches.
Three additional beaches have been awarded with a Blue Flag this summer, bringing the total to 52.
These are CTO Beach in Larnaka, Dhassoudhi Beach in Limassol Town, and Governor’s Beach, off the Larnaka to Limassol Road.
Blue Flags are only awarded for one season at a time to make sure beaches constantly meet the criteria.
Since the scheme was launched in Cyprus the number of beaches achieving the Blue Flag seal of approval has increased each year.
Last year 100 bathing areas in Cyprus were checked, using stringent European Union Standards.
Monitored frequently over the whole summer period, all beaches were found to be of acceptable quality and 49 of them were awarded with a Blue Flag.
