DC Bible museum details revealed
More details have been unveiled this week about the ambitious plans for at the huge Bible museum in Washington, DC, slated to open in 2017.
It will feature eight floors with over 400,000 square feet of exhibit space and will becomeone of the largest museums in the city.
It is the brainchild of Steve Green, president of craft store chain Hobby Lobby who presented a temporary Bible exhibition in Israel last year to showcase his large collection of biblical manuscripts.
Green says the museum will be separated into three sections: the history of the Bible, stories of the Bible, and the impact of the Bible.
Exhibits will include over 44,000 biblical artifacts owned by the Green family.
Construction on the site two blocks away from the Capitol is expected to start next month.
"Our intent is for this museum to showcase both the Old and New Testaments, through a non-sectarian, scholarly approach that makes the history, scholarship and impact of the Bible that is accessible to everyone," said museum spokesperson Mark DeMoss.
