Delta allowing business class flyers to pre-order in-flight meals
Delta Air Lines will offer premium flyers the ability to pre-order in-flight meals on selected international flights.
The airline said the ‘pre-select’ option for Delta One business class passengers begins early next year with flights from Atlanta and New York to select European destinations and hopes to expand it on all international routes.
Delta vice president of onboard services, Lisa Bauer said customers receive an email notification six days before departure offering an option to order meals and followed up with a text message.
In an initial test, more than half of all customers emailed took part and ordered meals, Bauer said.
"Our customers have told us that they value having more control over their experience inflight, specifically around selecting their meal options in advance to ensure they receive their first choice," Bauer said.
This is just another way we are providing options to our customers to make sure their culinary experience onboard is like dining at their favourite local restaurant."
