Delta Air Lines will launch a new seasonal service to Iceland’s Keflavik Airport from the Twin Cities next year.

Reykjavik will be Delta’s fifth transatlantic route from Minneapolis-St. Paul from May 26, 2016, served by 199-seat Boeing 757-300 aircraft.

"New service from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Reykjavik will open up more opportunities not only for passengers, but also for cargo handlers that import and export fish and other commodities between the two countries," said Bob Cortelyou, Delta’s senior vice president-network planning.

"By next spring, our customers in the Twin Cities will enjoy direct service to six overseas international destinations in Europe and Asia."

Delta also operates to Amsterdam, London, Paris and Tokyo-Narita from the Twin Cities and recently announced new flights to Rome.

Delta also said it will expand its seasonal service between Reykjavik and New York-JFK next year which begins earlier on February 11, 2016.

The previous four months will now operate for seven months in 2016, beginning with three flights a week and moving to daily services for the peak summer season starting in May 2016.
