Delta Shuttle service launching in Seattle

Sunday, 10 May, 2016 0
Delta Air Lines is expanding its ‘Delta Shuttle’ network to Seattle with West Coast services to Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The Delta Shuttle service officially begins Wednesday, and the airline will add another two daily flights between Seattle and Los Angeles later this month.

Including the San Francisco route, it will operate eight weekday Delta Shuttle West Coast flights from Sea-Tac.

Flights under the Delta Shuttle brand will be operated by Boeing 737-800, Boeing 717 and Embraer E175 jets.

Seattle will have a dedicated Delta Shuttle check-in area in its latest move to lure more business travelers away from Alaska Airlines, its biggest rival at Sea-Tac.

Delta began its West Coast shuttle network in 2013 with flights linking LA and San Francisco.

"Since the launch of Delta Shuttle service between Los Angeles and San Francisco in 2013, we’ve defined what ‘shuttle’ means with a consistent schedule, investments in the product with local West Coast brands, and making it easier, more enjoyable and more productive to do business for customers on the West Coast," Ranjan Goswami, Delta VP of sales, West, said in a statement.

"Adding Seattle to our Delta Shuttle portfolio is a major milestone and makes it clear that Delta is focused on West Coast travelers like no other airline."

Both American and United Airlines also offer short, regular shuttle routes especially between major business centers on the East Coast such as Boston, New York and Washington DC.

They are predominantly marketed at business travelers with separate check-in desks where they can check in as little as 20 minutes before wheels up.
