Delta tells flight crew with covid-19 not to post details on social media
Delta Air Lines has ordered flight attendants with positive coronavirus tests not to share the news of their health condition on social media or inform fellow workers.
HuffPost has seen an internal email sent to employees saying they should ‘refrain from notifying’ colleagues as Delta will ‘follow the established process to notify any impacted flight attendants.’
"Please do not post on social media (including SkyHub intranet) about your health status," the email said.
One unnamed employee told Huffpost: "Employees have freedom of speech about their health. We have a responsibility to take care of ourselves, our coworkers and everyone we come in contact with."
‘There are no plans to penalize anyone’ who posts information about their positive testing, Delta spokesperson Morgan Durrant told HuffPost.
Delta had already ordered pilots with coronavirus not to inform crew members, according to a leaked video which has now been taken down from YouTube.
"It’s a sad, sad situation that the flight attendants and other workers at Delta don’t know if they can trust the company now," said James Carlson of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
The union has been pushing for official recognition at Delta in a long running bitter battle to represent flight attendants.
