Denver’s selection as the site of the Democratic National Convention in August of 2008 will give it the largest gathering in its history.
The only other time Democrats met here was a century ago.
The convention is expected to draw 35,000 delegates.
Bureau President and CEO Richard Scharf says Denver is ready because it has added 5,000 hotel rooms since 2000. Another 2,000 rooms should be ready by the time of the convention.
The economic impact: $160 million, say CVB officials.
