Destiny is more days at sea
Carnival’s Destiny is sailing away from the trend for cruise lines to spend more time at sea.
A new 2007 itinerary shows a port-packed itinerary for the 2,642-passenger ship. Its island-intensive itinerary includes day-long visits to St. Lucia, Antigua, Dominica, Barbados and St.Thomas/St. John. There’s only one day at sea.
“The Carnival Destiny’s new five-port, seven-day itinerary provides consumers with an opportunity to experience a diversity of cultures and historical landmarks, along with some of the world’s most magnificent beaches,’ said Bob Dickinson, Carnival CEO.
Partly in an effort to have passengers spend more money aboard the ship, cruise lines recently have been offering week-long outings with three or even four days at sea.
Which way the trend will go in the future is still unknown.
