Discover Al Maha in Dubai’s desert

Saturday, 28 Nov, 2008 0

Having visited heaps of amazing luxurty resorts in my career in travel and tourism, it is unusual to come across a location that tops them all and Al Maha, the Emirates owned desert resort did just that for me!

Set in a fantastic desert reserve the size of Nothern Ireland, totalling 225 square kilometres, Al Maha is no regular resort, it is pristine desert and pristine luxury.

Without question, Al Maha is an undeniably, unforgettable place and I still think of sitting in front of my Bedouin suite at sunset watching the desert disapppear in the blackness and hearign….nothing….just the sound of silence – quite surreal!

Offering an experience like no other I have ever experienced, Al Maha offers what is claimed to be a Bedouin encampment experience, but in  reality it is hardly that, being much more luxurious than I imagine a Bedouin tent would be, with each villa sumptuously furnished and yes ever one has its own pool.

Another amazing thing about Al Maha is that you are only 45 minutes away for the buzz and throb of Dubai, yet you could be a lifetime away, with the location feeling really like you in the middle of a desert with not soul in sight, just the occassional oryx or camel wondering by and a gazelle or two passing even closer by – so close you feel you could touch them – yeah right as they bound into the distance!!

I am not going to say any more, except that you have to at least visit their web site to just have a look at what Al Maha is all about and please take the time to look through some of my photographs below – awesome – you have to go there.

More from Al Maha next week.
